The Relative Comment

soothing waves of relativity

a post in praise of Justin Bieber.

Here’s a total understatement: I don’t care about Justin Bieber. He’s not interesting to me in any way. Which is fine. But I have followed with a little interest the accusation of Mariah Yeater, 20, that the then 17-year old Bieber impregnated her after a performance. Not knowing Justin Bieber (surprise) I have no idea if he is of the ilk to take ladies backstage for such affairs. But my gut instinct is to say, this is probably hogwash.

That being the case, here is my shout out to Justin Bieber. He has loudly decried the accusations, and has agreed to take a paternity test, and will be suing Yeater. Good for him. If this is false, and this woman is seeking to get rich, then Yeater should be held accountable for smearing the name of a young man, even a young man who I would presume has more money that you can shake a stick at.

Celebrity is celebrity, and drives people mad. Its ugly and consuming and there is far too much money involved. As such, and unfortunately, stories like this are not unusual. We all have fun at the expense of celebrities. But there are pretty clear lines.

Apparently Yeater has received death threats from the Bieber faithful. Not a surprise, but disturbing nonetheless. This is what we have courts for. If Bieber fathered that child, well, he should be responsible. If he didn’t…Truth will out. And the truth will probably not do Mariah Yeater any favors.

  1. so you’re praising him for fighting back against accusations? I mean is it that special to deserve a special shout of praise? Herman Cain is fighting back against his accusers…
